marksnavy Posted July 27, 2010 Report Posted July 27, 2010 hi guys, when turning the steering wheel from a still position or moving at at crawl there is a rumble. Sounds like its struggling. Any ideas Ford galaxy mk 2 Quote
MrEnigma Posted July 28, 2010 Report Posted July 28, 2010 (edited) Same problem as me, the serpentine belt (alternator belt) is jumping excessivly, if you look at the the belt tensioner while idle, you will see it bouncing alot. This in turn causes the belt to slacken and in turn not power the power steering pump enough and causes the squealling. Solution, get your alternator clutch pulley replaced. (i am working on getting mine done soon) Costs vary for the part, still trying to source one , you will also need the spline tool to remove it or get it to a vw garage as they can apparently do this.
